New Year's Eve is a special time of year. It's the time when you look back over the past year, celebrate the highs and come to terms with the low points. Because it's such a special time, many people decide to make a real occasion of it and take a vacation. These are some of the hot warm weather destinations for New Year.

Melbourne, Australia

With temperatures between 25 and 35 degrees centigrade, Melbourne is a great place to spend New Year. Celebrations centre on the Yarra River, with fireworks and family friendly events for everyone to enjoy. One of the highlights of the celebrations is the unique

Projections Programme, when images are projected onto Melbourne's most famous buildings to tell a particular story. The programme runs through the whole of December, and there is a special projection for New Year's Eve.

Goa, India

Goa is India's smallest state, and it's a popular holiday destination all year round. Goan people love to party, and, at New Year, it's the place to be. With over 100 kilometres of coastline, the accent is on beach parties. The people are friendly, and tourists flock from all over the world to sample the unique mix of celebration and spirituality that Goa offers.

The biggest party is on Anjuna Beach, where the revels can last for up to 4 days. If you want to mingle with monks, artists and all sorts of other interesting and eccentric people at New Year, head for Anjuna. There's a party every night, but New Year is something else.

Ibiza, Spain

Ibiza in Spain's Balearic Islands is the party capital of Europe, so it's the place to be for New Year. With average temperatures around 17 degrees centigrade, it's not super hot, but it's warmer than most of Europe, and there will be plenty of parties to choose from. Ibiza is the place for the young, free and single to party through the night. It may prove a little too frenetic for anyone over the age of 30, and you need to have a very broad mind and a huge capacity for alcohol. If you fit into those criteria, Ibiza is the place to be for New Year.

Remember that if you want to make a vacation out of New Year, travel prices will be at a premium and the best hotels and party tickets will be snapped up very quickly. If you're heading for the hottest warm weather New Year hotspots, you need to plan ahead. Wherever you spend New Year, have a wonderful time with those you care about most.
