Christmas: Should love, joy and peace be openly expressed to others during the holiday season?

Christmas is the ultimate celebration of love, joy, and peace on earth. These are all the beautiful things that Christmas signifies.

It is a moment in time when we remember the one day many years ago that the world received a gift of hope. Although unrecognized by many then and still unrecognized by masses, the time of rejoicing had come.  The world would no longer be paralyzed by fear of a hopeless future. With a single gesture of love the fears of generations were alleviated. There was now an eternal hope for peace.

Somewhere on the soft coast of eternity there was someone who loved so much. Our misgivings were forgiven. Humanity received a gift. That gift was grace “unmerited favor”. As a people we were given the promise of a brilliant future. Through a new life there would be a celebration of life, hope, joy, and peace on earth for years to come. No one had ever given such a pure unconditional gift.

That is what gift giving symbolizes. It is not the packaged gifts but the love with which we give and the joy we experience from our giving and the peace that people receive in knowing that they are loved despite everything.

It is the most wonderful time of the year. The time where we wish glad tidings to people we don’t know. We toast good cheer and a life time of upcoming prosperity no matter their station or without regard to the circumstances of their birth.

“Should love, joy and peace be openly expressed to others during the holiday season”: That is what we commemorate it is essentially the reason for the season.

When I think of Christmas I visualize a serene earth blanketed in a pure white snow. Silent nights with a midnight skies bathed in diamonds, casting their brilliant lights on a frozen earth. A earth tired, unyielding, and cold waiting to be thawed with the birth of new possibilities. The joy that comes wrapped underneath that frozen blanket. Colorful lights that dance, warm hearths, the smell of cinnamon and pine intertwined peals of laughter, carols of good will and joy filling hallowed halls with glory.

Most of all I think about how much I am loved. My heart melts within from all of the tiding of peace. As I think of all the people who have never liijed upon my visage or who have no familiarity with me but yet bless me with their tidings. The joy of knowing I have been blessed, I am being blessed, and yet have the opportunity to bless others. My heart is filled with hope for a brighter future for myself, my family, and the world
