If you want to make the world a better place ...

If one really wants to make this world a better place, the process of betterment starts from oneself. If every person starts changing oneself and starts becoming a more tolerant, reasonable, compassionate, empathetic, and cheerful than what one was before; the world would start becoming a better place. We now live in a world where we know a whole lot of stuff than we ever used to know, and yet there's a constant downgrade in our day-to-day life. This is because we have changed our way of living from human values to business-type values. Everything is seen in terms of monetary profits. We no longer connect to other individuals as normal human beings. Every human relationship is weighed in terms of monetary gains. And more importantly, we have become a society that preaches one thing and practices another.

We now live in a world, where most educated people know what’s right and  what's wrong but are not willing to share their actual understanding for some hypothetical reasons. We now know that the sun is at the center of the solar system; and other planets, including the earth, revolve around it. And yet we preach those outdated human documents (which are supposedly god-created documents) that say otherwise. We now know that the universe came into existence several billion years back; and yet we preach through those religious scriptures that takes the existence back to no more than a few thousand years. We now know that the universe is far more mysterious than what it seems and yet we preach scriptures that cannot even measure the tiniest extent of it. We now know that there are millions of species on the earth and yet we do not hesitate to uphold the religions that can count up to only a few tens of species. We now know that all religious documents were compiled by human beings and were modified at different periods of time who had no knowledge of science, no understanding of the solar system and were mostly inspired by the heinous mentality of the people of those times. And yet we do not hesitate to uphold them with utmost confidence and certainty. We now know that evolution actually happened and is still happening and will continue to happen for eternity, and yet we do not hesitate to defy it. If we can’t be truthful to our own findings and understandings, how can we be truthful to other human beings and living creatures! How can we expect this world to be a better place if we cannot be better individuals ourselves?
