Well known for its ability to promote sleep and soothe nerves, chamomile tea has a host of other health and beauty benefits that are often overlooked.  From beauty secrets to pain relief, chamomile is one pretty little flower that packs quite a powerful herbal punch.  So what are some ways that chamomile tea can help you?

1. Sleeplessness:
Sipping a cup of chamomile tea is a wonderful way to relax, unwind, and get the restful night's sleep that your body needs.

2. Nerves:
If you are feeling stressed, tense, or nervous a cup of chamomile tea can help restore your calm, and leave you feeling rejuvenated and cool as a cucumber even under times of intense stress.

3. Dark circles under the eyes:
Believe it or not, a strong, cooled brew of chamomile tea placed under the eyes works wonders on dark circles.  Simply take a few cotton squares, soak them in cool chamomile tea, lie back, and place the chamomile cotton squares under your eyes for about 15 minutes twice daily.  Over time, your dark circles will diminish, and your skin will have a radiant glow.

A mug of hot, chamomile tea is excellent for menstrual cramps, often quelling this painful condition fairly quickly.  How does it work? According to an article on WebMD, chamomile tea acts to raise the levels of glycine (a compound that calms muscle spasms) in urine.

5. Diabetes:
According to a study at the University of Toyama, drinking chamomile tea daily combats hyperglycemia and prevents diabetic complications.

6. Headaches:
Chamomile is an wonderful tea for headaches, particularly migraines.  When you feel a headache coming on, reach for a cup of chamomile tea, and stop the pain in its tracks.

7. Colds:
Chamomile's antibacterial properties make it an excellent cold fighter.  Plus, drinking warm chamomile tea can be very soothing for an inflamed throat, and the steam loosens congestion.

8. Wounds and skin conditions:
From ancient Romans to present day herbalists, many people have used chamomile over the years to soothe wounds and promote faster healing.  Chamomile is excellent for speeding up healing time for a variety of skin conditions and wounds including burns, cuts, scrapes, eczema, and other skin irritations.
