Located along a creek in Sanders County in northwestern Montana, Noxon is one of eight towns labeled according to the United States Census as a census-designated place, or CDP.

Very little is given or known about this town, as it is somewhat cut off from not only most of Montana, but from the rest of the United States for that matter. According to its website from December 18, 2011, the median age for the town of Noxon is exactly 46 years old. There is an average of just under three people per family size, with 104 households altogether. The town is predominantly white, with few Hispanic and American Indian influences in the town. Noxon has a zip code that is 59853. Noxon also has an area code that is 406.

Because Noxon is a small town, there is very little in schooling. In fact, there are only three schools found in Noxon: one elementary school, one middle school and one high school. According to the 2000 United States Census, Noxon did not have a single person enrolled in a university in a state that had over 51,000 enrolled throughout Montana.

Noxon does have few businesses operating in the area, primarily grocery stores. Enthusiasts of mom and pop stores would want to visit Heron Store & Café. There is one local restaurant where food lovers can find a place to have a great dinner: Hereford Bar & Restaurant is located at 1204 Mt. Highway 200. Its phone number is 406-847-2635. There was once a second restaurant which did competition with Hereford Bar & Restaurant. Uncle Mike’s Diner, however, is officially closed, according to www.yelp.com. No other information is available for either restaurant. 

For other businesses and restaurants, residents have no choice but to visit other cities. Whether it is finding a Red Lobster in Billings or seeking attorney’s offices 10 to 15 miles from Noxon, Noxon is a small town that has the small town feel.
