Audi A1 Sportback was first showcased at the Tokyo Motor Show. There are many features and options that make this Sportback version unique and trendy. The Audi A1 Sportback has got excellent reviews.

Design 

The Audi A1 Sportback is aerodynamically designed to reduce drag and improve fuel efficiency. It measures 1.75 m wide, 1.42m tall and 3.95m long. The weight is 25kgs and is heavier than the Audi A1 three door version.

The front end of the Sportback is dominated by a single grille frame. The headlights are fitted with xenon plus lamps which enhances night vision and consumes considerably less power.

The Audi A1 Sportback has an extra set of doors, which adds on 25kg of added kerbweight. The extra set has been harmoniously built into the exterior design of the Audi A1 Sportback. The unique Samoa Orange color can be paired with three contrasting shade of the roof color.

The Audi A1 Sportback has the same length and wheelbase measurements as the three door Audi version - 3.95m and 2.5m respectively. The unique feature is that the A1 Sportback version is wider and taller. This gives more upper space for the back seat passengers. The additional cost free feature of the Audi Sportback is that, it will be fitted with a standard five-seat layout but a four seat layout can be opted for at no extra cost.

The fog lights are integrated in the front panel and offers excellent visibility range during rainy, snowy or foggy weather conditions.

 Engine

The Audi A1 Sportback comes with six engine variations to choose from – three TDI diesel engines and three TFSI petrol engines.

The top TFSI engine of the Audi A1 sportback has a 7 speed S tronic double clutch transmission for enhanced fuel economy. The gears can be smoothly changed with rapid ease. It takes 6.9 seconds for the engine to rev up from speed range of 0 to 100km/hr. The maximum speed is limited to 227km/hr. The gears can be changed manually using paddle shifts. The paddle shift option is offered at a price of $200.

The other five models come with manual transmission with a five speed or six speed gear box. The seven speed S tronic is an option for the 1.4 TFSI and 1.6 TDI.

A 2.0 litre diesel option will be available later in the year with 141bph and 62 mph speed in 8.5 seconds. All versions of Sportsback will have a mandatory alloy wheel and a 6.5 inch color display standard.
