Making holiday videos in general is going to be a bit of a challenge as there have been plenty made overtime and it’s hard to be original.  The thought process involves putting it on YouTube.  It is going to be recommended and probably required to at least know how to create a video in general.  Thinking in that sense, it makes it a bit easier to have some type of experience.  Even if you don’t, it can still be done but it will be harder without knowing how to create videos.

The equipment that is going to be needed will be a good video camera.  It is obviously going to be important if it is going to be specifically a video with actual people filming something.  There is also the need to consider the option of obtaining a program that does video editing.  There is one on there known as Windows Movie Maker but it’s not for everybody.  Also, it is going to be very important to have a YouTube account.  If you don’t have one, then register and follow the procedure and it will not take too long.

Plan

To do a holiday video, it is going to be best to plan it out.  Figure out what would be the right approach and practice a few times to make sure everybody gets it.  It’s like when working with a movie and having cuts and following some type of script.  Doing it in that manner could be helpful and at least get an idea of what is going to be done.

Film

Once everything has been figured out, start filming.  Make sure that it has enough battery power if it takes those.  Just film for as long as necessary.  Doing that will probably be one of the more difficult aspects if trying to get in all directions.  Of course, it could just be one direction and follow the camera.  While it doesn’t have to be the most professional, it just simply has to be done in a manner that makes sense.

Put on computer

Before even editing and probably necessary, get the footage onto the computer.  If need be and it is using a VHS, get it on a DVD and then have a program to rip the DVD out.  In other words, just simply do that and it will be on the computer without too much trouble.

Edit

Editing can be one of the more difficult processes if necessary.  That would mean adding sound effects or music.  In other words, just simply have a program that can edit without messing up the video.  While it may seem like it could be easy, it really is a bit challenging to get it right down to the exact point from top to bottom.

Upload

Log in to your YouTube account and then simply go about uploading it.  Depending upon the Internet connection and how much is running in the background can make a difference on how it is presented.  It should take a little bit of time and there should hopefully be no issues.  Just simply watch it and if you have Twitter or Facebook, maybe promote it that way.

The process can take sometime mostly with the editing because of trying to get it right down to the tee.  It can be rewarding especially if it catches on and people really like it.  You never know for sure how people are going to take to it but it’s interesting to think about nevertheless.
