You know you were part of the 1980s when...

You know you were part of the 1980s when people without gray hair weren’t. The 80s were back in my day as a young adult at age 25 to 35. Now, the younger people look up to you whether you deserve it or not. With my roots dating back to the 1980s, there was notable music on the radio from that decade that I really liked.

Personally, music of the 80s takes me aback, like into a time tunnel. I mostly listen to the 80s pop/rock/alternative genres then as now. As part of the 80s I should take a lesson about current 2010 hip-hop decade. Some time back in 2001 I decided to turn off the new music of the top 40 radio stations and listen to my old favorites of various artists.

My Mother and Father were both musicians, as I am when I practice. I’m gravitating back to the piano keyboard with new music books in hand. There is just too much good music to turn my back on. And, most of my piano books are of 80s songs and pieces.

Mostly I live for music throughout my life so far. It is very entertaining to me almost daily. And, there were jobs back then too which I worked in the 80s. Yes, I was in my prime and now I’m not so prime. And, as for popular TV shows, my favorite stars have faded. Truly, I don’t know the new stars so much.

Mainly, being from the 80s decade makes me a little settled down. And, I have to admit I’m not hip on a lot of the new entertainment that is now out there like hip-hop music, new stars and new designers. It’s not that it isn’t any good, but, I had my favorites and kept them instead of trading them off for the new decade of entertainment stars and designers. You know you were part of the 1980s when people without gray hair weren’t.

When the new lineup of TV award shows is on, I'm going to make an effort to watch them and learn new names of entertainers and fashion designers. I'm glad that entertainment is part of my media center in my living room. It is easy to listen and watch the new entertainment of my media center because I'm only 56 years old with a one year old computer. And, what the heck—the old stuff gets old after a while. Perhaps if I got a new boyfriend they would get me out of my old familiar entertainment and introduce me into some new.
