Just imagine; you've had a long hard day at work and you are really looking forward to a nice, relaxing bubble bath. But, when you go into the bathroom, the bottle is empty.
If you make your own bubble bath, this is not a problem. You just mix up a batch and enjoy.
Since everyone has their own favorite scents, I am going to give you a "basic" recipe and tell you how to customize it for YOU. This recipe makes a lot of bubble bath; so you can actually make several different scents if you want to take the time.
Basic Bubble Bath
2 cups of Almond Oil (if you can't find it, Extra Light Olive Oil can be substituted)
2 cups of distilled water
1 cup of 100% pure soap flakes (grated soap can be substituted)
2 Tablespoons of Witch Hazel
Boil the water and melt the soap in it.
While it is boiling, blend the witch hazel and the oil together.
Slowly add the soap/water mixture to the witch hazel/oil blend and shake or blend well.
This makes about a quart of your basic bubble bath.
To customize it you can add:
1) Your favorite essential oils. No more than 15 drops for every 2 tablespoons of bubble bath.
2) Your favorite perfume. The amount you add depends on how concentrated your perfume is; only a few drops of a strong scent, but up to a teaspoon of a weak scent for every 2 tablespoons of bubble bath.
3) Vanilla - straight from your kitchen cupboard, a few drops of vanilla will add a delicious vanilla scent and it costs less than the essential oil. Cherry vanilla is very popular.
4) Food color - not a lot, just enough to tint the bubble bath. 2 drops of food color are enough to color 8 - 10 ounces of bubble bath.
Then, all you need to do is bottle it for later use or as a gift.
Using this basic formula, you can make any bubble bath you desire.
