The Nighttime Blues
Blankets - a tangle
In sleepless bemuse
With pillows, I wrangle
Endless positions
Yet, no rest ensues
And no remission
With the nighttime blues
Restless and bloodshot
Nothing is working
Incessant in what-not
Cussing and jerking
I've got the nighttime blues
In this war for my rest
My sleep is askew
In sleepless molest
Just when I think
I'm starting to fall
The nighttime blues
Returns in a squall
No rest for the weary
No snooze - I lose
Nothing is cheery
With the nighttime blues
