How to form a board of directors

Efficiency is important. Keep it small, its not about how impressive a large board is, but how efficiently it works for you.
As a CEO, make calls to those you consider and explain your desire to talk about a possible position on the board.

By making a list of what your management's skills are, you can then look to acquire those people who have those skills.
Recruit those who have fresh ideas and have experience in what applies to your company. Experience is essential unless your willing to take the time to invest in providing that experience.

Look to those around you. For example those you do business with, acquaintances, friends, and anyone else who may make a good choice and then decide who might have the right talent for what you need.
Get people with a good financial background so as to be able to raise money when necessary. Often overlooked by many.
