Canada is a large country with much to offer for the visitor. From east to west and north to south there is a vastness that is incredible.
The most easterly province in Canada is Newfoundland, a land of fjords, ice bergs (if you're luck to see one), drumlins, and the Atlantic Ocean. The closest you will get to Ireland, without going there, is Newfoundland with much of the culture and language from the old country. Newfoundland itself is a large province and constant traveling for a month would not allow you to see all the places of interest like Grand Bank (one of the oldest fishing ports in North America), the Irish Loop, L'Anse aux Meadows, a UNESCO world heritage site where Eric the Red and the Vikings had a settlement in 998 AD and the capital city of St. John's, famous for George Street where parties and fun are never far away. There is just so much to see and do.
Nova Scotia, another eastern province, has much to offer as well. The Acadian culture is alive and well and you would be remiss if you did not try rapure (rappie pie) while in the province. It's not really a pie but a potato and meat dish and is the food of angels. In the western end of the province, there is Frenchy's, stores which sell second hand, and sometimes new, clothing and other treasures. Everyone in the area can tell you a story about the buys they got at Frenchy's and if you like shopping and good buys, it's a great way to spend a day going from one store to another.
If you make it to central Canada, the province of Quebec offers you the French part of Canada's culture. The city of Montreal is very cosmopolitan but for a really unique experience you have to go to Quebec City. The old part of the city is very European. Check out local restaurants for a good meal and soak in the culture of a province that is unique within the Canadian federation.
Ontario is our most densely populated province and the city of Toronto is a must see. Toronto is a clean city with lots to do and see such as the CN Tower, the Royal Ontario Museum, art galleries, live theatre, good restaurants and good shopping.
I don't mean to slight our prairie provinces, Manitoba, Saskatchewan and Alberta. They all have wonderful capital cities and interesting things to experience. These provinces have a large First Nations population and there are museums that will teach you about our founding peoples.
Beautiful British Columbia is take-your-breath-away beautiful. It has just about everything such as mountains, the Pacific Ocean, beautiful cities with gorgeous gardens. It has vineyards, fertile valleys, and a very diverse population.
Canada has much to offer and is well worth visiting. We are a welcoming people and if you come to visit us, you will be glad you did.
