Neighborhood guide: Desert Valley in Mesa, AZ

Desert Valley is a residential neighborhood located in Mesa, Arizona.  It is situated in the central part of the eastern side of the city.  It is bordered on the north by East Warner Road, on the east by South Meridian Road, on the south by East Spalding Avenue and on the west by South Mountain Road.

A relatively large neighborhood, Desert Valley is made up of small lots with nice sized middle class homes. The houses are very close together.  Each lot has some front and back yard, but very little side yard. A number of the homes have swimming pools.

Residents have easy access to both the Superstition and Santan Freeways.  This gives them rapid access to shopping and a variety of activities.  It makes getting around Mesa and the surrounding towns quick and simple.

Because of its near perfect location, Desert Valley is an excellent place to live.  Air Force men stationed at Williams Air Force Base have only a short drive to work.  College age students can live at home and attend classes at the Arizona State University East Campus or at Arizona State University Polytechnic Campus.

The Phoenix-Mesa Gateway Airport is just a short drive to the west. Those with medical needs will have easy access to both Gilbert Hospital and the Mountain Vista Medical Center. Several small parks are also located nearby.

Golfers will enjoy being located near a number of golf courses. The Sunland Springs Village course is the closest.  It is a 27-hole, Par 63 course with beautiful views of the nearby mountains. Players enjoy a full service pro shop,  driving range, snack shop and the opportunity to play in various leagues.

The nearby Lost Dutchman State Park is a great place to get away for the day or for a longer period of time. The Superstition Mountains abound with legend and mystery.  Gold seekers enjoy panning for gold and searching for the Lost Dutchman mine.  Many visitors have been back time and time again hoping that their present trip will lead them to a pile of gold.

Camping, hiking and family-oriented programs are just a sample of what is available here. Special activities are scheduled throughout the year for the visitors who come to experience the park. Children can pick up a booklet at the Visitor Center and by completing the activities can become Junior Park Rangers. No matter how long you choose to stay, you will not lack for things to do.
