Vincent and Helen had spent the afternoon at Kensington Palace, touring the palace and grounds. You couldn’t ask for a better day. Late September, brought cooler weather with the sun golden glow.
They left the palace grounds and were heading to the Kensington Close. This was a nice hotel and in walking distance to shops and the Palace. Two blocks from the hotel, the noise of the city became loud and people began to gather. We continue our walk toward the hotel.
Then suddenly a police car coming from the wrong direction stopped right in from of the car coming in the right direction. Helen caught hold of Vincent’s hand for protection. He pulled her to the side by the building, and began to make pictures.
The thoughts going through Vincent’s head were; you hear about Bobbies, nowhere did it say they carried such large guns to capture people. Without hesitation, they pulled the driver out of the car, turned him around and put handcuffs on him. The passenger was ordered to put her hands on the dashboard.
Vincent and Helen watched for a while, and then decided it wasn’t safe. We looked back down the block before we entered the hotel just in time to witness a loud exposing that could be heard for miles around.
Helen though the footsteps of people walking on the street were loud, the explosion silenced the noise of the footsteps.
Upon returning home Vincent and Helen thought they would be able to forget about this experience. No so, it is as vivid today as it was then. The noise of the explosion and the Bobbies with their machine guns are implanted in their minds.
