Poetry: Dumpster diving

by David Brown

Created on: December 07, 2011

My friends call me to go dumpster diving

This would be poetry to my ears

The thought of finding a world of treasure

We enjoyed this all together.

Getting in the car and locating many places

We did nothing to hide our faces.

There are places near and far

We jump in the dumpsters under the stars.

No fear to see nightly rodents to compete with

Looking for anything to call our own

Cuts and bruises need no stitching.

Computers, televisions, radios and more

We need another car to place our store.

The night is long, the fun is just beginning

No matter what we find, we are winning.

Throw this out, throw that out,

No one knows we are lurking about.

Sometimes sirens are heard

Yet we continue to stir

Gathering our treasure

The clear star lit nights make for great weather.

The car is filling up quickly

We are none the witty.

We have more than we can handle

It is now time to scramble.

We go through our treasure

We have some good find

No matter when we are lurking

Pay us no mind.
