This is the man’s private life and we should not interfere with his life. It is between him, his wife, and his family and should have no bearing on his ability to govern as a President. Seriously, what he does in his own time, unless he is a murderer or child abuser, should not matter to us.

Were we not peppered by similar lines all throughout the painful discovery that we had a President that may have been guilty of rape? Of sexual harassment? Do you remember, “I did not have sexual relations with that woman”? Here was the press and others telling us that what he did in his personal life was his business.

Do you not remember Gennifer Flowers, Kathleen Willey, and Monica Lewinsky? Where was Gloria then? Why is it that he refused to answer to some of the accusations brought against him? Had Lewinsky not kept that dress we may have always thought of her as a publicity whore. What do we think now?

Okay, enough about President Clinton.

What now? Herman Cain, a Republican Presidential nominee “want to be”, stands accused of sexual harassment by three women that stem from his tenure as President of the National Restaurant Association (NRA). Do you know where the national headquarters for the NRA is located? Chicago. Interesting when you consider where our current President is from.

For over 30 years, Cain has successfully been running businesses. Also, consider this nugget stolen from Wikipedia: He was a “deputy chairman of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City from 1992 to 1994 and chairman from 1995 to 1996.“ The man has impressive credentials. He has accomplished considerably more than our current President.

Okay Smith, but what about the accusations? Fair enough. It is my opinion that they mean nothing until they are proven. Cain cannot talk about them because, as I understand, he is sworn to silence as a part of the out of court settlement(s). If he discusses them he will most likely be sued for breaking the conditions of the those settlement(s).

So why did the NRA settle out of court? I don’t know. Perhaps it was because it was less expensive to settle then to go to court. Court can be very costly and sometimes even if you are innocent you decide to settle because it may very well be less expensive. Also, Cain had nothing to do with the settlements because that is left up to his employer’s attorneys. However, it is interesting to consider that these women did not come forward until he started surging in the polls. When he was number one they started talking. I find that concerning.

The settlements were reported to be five figures, right? That is what I understand but that does not mean it was necessarily $99,999.99. It may have been $10,000. But that decision was not made by Cain.

What about the lady that claims she had a 13 year affair with him? I have heard bits and pieces about it and at this point I simply do not believe her. Maybe they did have an affair. I don’t know.

It is my belief that now that he has suspended his campaign that we will not hear anymore from his accusers. Think about that for a moment – out of the limelight, no accusers; in the limelight, accusers. What to do?

I think Herman Cain is a quality man that should continue to run. I believe he is a quality candidate that some people fear as a Presidential candidate. Get back in the race and fight Cain!
