Nightmare Train
First Verse -
Stuck aboard the nightmare train,
She takes that ride yet again
Like so many nights before.
With muddled confusion,
Amidst vague illusion,
She's wandered far back
Along memory's sad track
A hundred times and more.
Chorus -
She never once stopped to think.
She had herself one last drink.
It made her feel all aglow.
Now that she's burdened with the pain
Of never ever walking again.
She wishes she had said, "No."
Second Verse -
Warning signs along the way
She saw them nearly every day
She shouldn't have missed them all.
Thoughts in diffusion,
Obvious conclusion,
She began to swerve
Along Devil's Curve
And slammed into a wall.
[Chorus] This time with anger
Last Verse -
With a bottle of pills
Clutched firmly in hand,
She may be denied
The Promised Land,
But muddled confusion
And elusive delusion
Will end that awful pain
Aboard the damnéd nightmare train.
[Chorus] This time with melancholy
