Julie had been in the city for almost a year now. She wasn’t cut out to be a city dweller. She had moved from her beloved country home to pursue her writing career. She would be here for another year, and then she could would return to her beloved country cottage and work remote for the Garden Publishing House.
What would make the time pass more quickly was the rooftop garden? Tenants could grow whatever they wanted as long as they shared with the landlord. Her first impression of the rooftop garden was; these people don’t know how to prepare a garden. She had her work cut out for her. No problem, this was just what she needed to help pass the time.
She spent a month, getting the lay of the rooftop. The soil in the containers and planting areas need to be removed, and new soil added. This would cost her a few dollars. She didn’t mind; this place would be beautifully when she finished, a nice place to spend afternoons.
In two months, the flowers were all in bloom; vegetable plants were producing. This rooftop garden became a gathering place for the neighbors in the late afternoon and weekends. The eagerly took part in planting, weeding and harvesting the crop of vegetables and picking flowers for their apartments.
