As many people that believe in karma, their idea, their perception of what karma actually is, differs so to the point of reflecting all of the vast belief systems there are. One believes karma is something that happens to you due to a "cause," basically what creates that karma. Some believe karma is something you have inherited for some past sin, or even falls into the "Sins of the Father" category where we basically take on what sins our Fathers and Father's Father brought down on themselves, and the debit went to us their children. What we have to realize is that karma simply is what it is, and there is no way of escaping your own karma.
Karma sometimes kicks in when we become a bit too sure of ourselves, like waking up thinking you're gonna knock today back into it's place. Well, what usually happens? You go to open the cabinet and something falls out and knocks over your juice. Having nothing on there to clean it up with you turn to get something from the dryer and stub your toe. Reeling in pain you make it to the dryer to quickly realize once opening the door you forgot to turn it on yesterday which has left your once semi fresh smelling clothes a now slightly moldy smelling still wet mess, and then it gets fun. Suddenly you realize when you let the dog outside that morning it was raining and the sound and smell of burning coffee directs your attention to the coffee pot where you forgot to put in the filter and coffee water and grounds have covered most of the counter. Trying to make it back quick you stub your toe again and making it to the counter to turn off the pot you see your dog walk in the open front door soaked with cold rain water, and as he makes his way to you, stopping off at the couch and love seat for a quick rub into the cushions before making his way to the kitchen for a good hard shake... this is only in the first ten minutes of your day, and you thought you were running something.
Maybe in truth that's what karma really is. Not a curse or something you've done or even something your Father or anyone else in your family might have done. It simply is whatever higher power you believe in humbling you and letting you know your grasp on the reigns is quite limited, but you do at least to get to hold the wheel from time to time, but the harder you try to hold on and say you're the one running the show, karma will come along and show you different. That's just one man's belief...
