Poetry: Christmas with family

by Jon Coe

Created on: November 28, 2011

Here at home, at the epicenter of our love
Shines the first true gift, handed from above
The warmth and happiness in which we will find
Bathes in the shadow of this, that we left behind

Each Christmas, those who shall wander home
From a Nomadic journey, returning from the roam
In the glow of the fire and the blazing Christmas Tree
No matter how we judge it, this is who aspire to be

The excitement and love supersedes any mortal gift
Here in the family, we should put aside any kind of rift
No matter how small or how large, anything, we expect
The truth of our being, lies in who we are by our order of respect

Christmas with the family is nothing like it was last year
Sometimes we wonder, if we should bother to persevere
But as the holidays approach, there seems to be a magic in the air
And the love handed down through our family, we find nothing to compare
