Poetry: Insanity

by Sophie Martin

Created on: November 27, 2011

Most times I try not to let it show,

these enemies are mine, and mine alone.

Doctors put them there, that I know.

Those medicine men put them there,

while they patted me on the back,

told me they were vaccinating me for the flu.

But between me and you,

I'm the product of a test.

White coats wanna know if I'll give in,

I'm the ultimate exhibition.

Bugs are in my head you know,

they put them in my head, yes they did.

Right behind my eyes, especially the left one.

A seething hive is there, they plot to make me come undone.

My skin prickles while I lay in my bed at night,

sleep is evading me to my despite.

Food has lost it's flavor,

mush in my mouth that I cannot savor.

Will this be the end of my life's endeavor?

I never thought I'd feel relief,

until I took that final leap.

They had burrowed right into my teeth,

so I stopped them in their tracks.

Once I got started, I could not stop.

My whole body was filled with their vile rot,

but I had unraveled their plot, yes I did.

Yes I did.
