Poetry: Christmas secrets

by Jon Coe

Created on: November 25, 2011

I have a secret hidden under my bed
Please don't try to get into my head
I will tell you about it, all in good time
Just read through the rest of this rhyme

This year, when Santa came to my house
He crept around, as quietly as a mouse
I was hiding in a closet, near the fireplace
And this is where I saw him uncover his face

He had goat like eyes and a stubby little chin
His cheeks were hollow with a nose, furry and thin
He had teeth like a tiger with long sharp fangs
And one black bushy eyebrow that sort of hangs

Santa swirled and twirled like a mischievous elf
Opening up all the presents, I guess for himself?
When he started to scratch up everything in his sack
I sprang out of the closet and jumped on his back

We wrestled for a while before falling to the ground
With Christmas paper and tinsel, flying all around
After what seemed forever, I tied up Santa with my bib
And now he lays meowing quietly, under my crib
