There are a multitude in both categories, however, it appears there are more in the unforgivable column, which speaks volumes as to the corruption, deceit, mismanagement, violence, greed, immorality, idolized, egotistical, inefficient behaviors as a nations leader.
Let's start with the unforgettable column. We have: George Washington, Abraham Lincoln, Ronald Reagan and John F. Kennedy; just to mention some great ones.
George Washington
He held his army together during the Revolutionary War and won it under extremely trying circumstances. He saw to it that the Constitution was created and passed and established the Bank of the United States. He was the only Founding Father to free his slaves.
Abraham Lincoln
He set the example of leadership and integrity by freeing the slaves in all southern states and passing the Homestead Act. He established agricultural and mechanical colleges in all states and chartered the first transcontinental railroad. He has been rated #1 by historians as the best president of the U.S.
John F. Kennedy
Started the Peace Corp, diverted nuclear war with the USSR over the Cuban Missile Crisis and was committed to putting a man on the moon; which was realized after his death. He also wanted an end to racial discrimination and proposed the Civil Rights Act of 1964. He would have probably done much more had he not been assassinated.
Ronald Reagan
During his tenure as our nations leader, he reduced inflation, increased employment and cut taxes and raised the economy. He encouraged new defense technology and helped bring an end to the Cold War.
These men will top the history books as unforgettable because of their outstanding accomplishments during times of extreme duress and uncertainty.
On the other side of the coin we have the despots, dictators, and mass- murderers; the unforgivable.
Joseph Stalin
Ruled Russia with an iron fist of terror and was not beyond killing his own solders and political enemies. He also held refugees in labor camps for years.
Adolph Hitler
Probably known as the worst mass-murderer in history. He was responsible for the death of approximately 6 million Jews as well as other ethnicity's and was also not beyond killing political opponents or anyone else who disagreed with him or his policies.
Fidel Castro
Although considered by some of his people as a hero, he held executions on a regular basis, imprisoned those he thought were a threat, forced emigration of thousands and provided military support to multiple communist nations.
Muammar al Gaddafi
Expelled all Italians and the Jewish community from Libya, was known for human rights abuses and massive corruption.
Kim Jong Il
He starves his population in North Korea and is known for many human rights abuses, such as shipping short people and disabled people off to uninhabited islands as a way of cleansing society. And this from a man who is only 5'2" tall himself.
These men will also be remembered in history books but for their vile acts of inhumanity as nation leaders.
