That is Why I Came

The house that I am in
is not a house of wishes,
not a well where you throw a coin
and make a wish
and come again when it is granted
and sulk, when it is not.

The house that I am in
is not a place I will desert
when the ceiling seem to leak
roof drenched with sorrowful rain,
or when it is dark and cold
engulfed in loss and hopelessness.

This house that I am in

it is my home – and none shall take me away
for I am not to be served, but serve
not to seek comfort, but pain and toil
and giving the choices sacrifice
for it is the heart I seek, not the hand.

For gold and money I need not
pride and honour, I crushed them all
for all are long one – none but ash
But there is one who came, and took my hand
and mended my heart with nail – struck hands
and from then, I know: what I needed most.

I needed love.
Love that is not one-sided.
Love that is not selfish.
Love that will cost me the world,
that will never change, and will always be there
for anything less than that, is not love at all.

For that is life.
For I can never live without that breath,
for without the presence of the one I love
and to praise, to admire, and pour myself
like a drink, for my beloved to drink
and taste the sweetness of my longing love –

a love that has long waited
to be rightfully claimed by one like no other;
my precious gold,
my choicest silver…
my vindicator,
and my healer and beloved.

That is why I came…
Because I love you.

knowing that you loved me with your all
when everyone has rejected me,
and freed me from injustice
when all is out to hunt me down,
and for laying down your life for me –
a price that I can never repay.

for you are all I need
