Ways of talking to God

by Leslie Trotter

Talking to God may seem like a waste of time to those who does not have faith nor believe in him. Sometimes when an individual is let down after they have prayed for some thing they've been wanting for a long time and they don't receive it, they are quick to say that God must not be real or he doesn't love them enough to give them what they want. They never think that God wants to give them what they need.

What we want has to come into God's perfect plan for our lives, like if you want a wife if you know that you are a good man who deserves one. God will give that man the desires of his heart in due season.  Our needs are more important than our wants, because what we need is a necessity for our spiritual or physical survival and what we want is for our fleshly desires in most cases.

You may want a big old roomy house when all you need is a small one bedroom home. It is always better to talk to God and ask him to give you the desires of your heart only if that is what he desires for you. God watches out for us and he has our best interest at heart. The best way to talk to God is to be honest with your feelings and don't hold anything back.

Sitting alone in a quiet room without any distractions is always a great way of opening up to God. Talk to him as though you are talking to your mother, father or best friend in the whole world.  God desires to hear our thoughts, listen to our hearts and he wants us to make our request known to him. Telling him what you want and need is confirmation when it comes from our very own lips or spirit.

Praying at church is a good way to talk to God and when many are in agreement with your prayers it's even better. God can hear us anywhere at anytime of the day and it's been that way since the beginning of time and at the start of your life. He will never forsake his children and he is the Father who will always be there, so when our earthy fathers perish, forsake us, abandon us or abuses us. God is the Father you can always count on.

Just because a pray is not answered as soon as it's heard does not mean it won't happen, God has his perfect timing and for your own good and the good of others, he will not be rushed. Picking certain times of the day to speak to God is good, just remember not to put God in a box because he sure doesn't have you in a box.
