A shiny new penny
rests in my shoe,
If you look very closely
You will notice two.
Two shiny pennies, gleaming so bright.
It’s sad that these loafers
are just too darn tight.
You see,
my feet are simply bigger
than they were in ‘65.
When Rock Around the Clock
was hip,
and so was the Hand Jive.
Some trends go ‘round but once,
some go round a time….or three
But I’d give more than two cents, for sure –
if those
loafers would still fit me.

Poetry: Shoes
by Rick Ellis
Old Red Shoes
He walks along the highway
In his old red shoes
He knows not what he's searching for
But knows it's something
Shoes (Inanimate Objects)
Don't you dare
put your foot in there
Take it out
Before I shout
Don't you even go near that pile
If
A world away, it seems, in times long past,
Shoes were made, crafted to last.
The cobblers pride adorned the feet,
Elegant
A shiny new penny
rests in my shoe,
If you look very closely
You will notice two.
Two shiny pennies, gleaming so bright.
It’s
by Renie Pliner
Shoes are like people.
They can be warm,
They can be cold,
Or blue, or green,
Or red or old
They may be new
Like a fresh spring
