Does your household seem to have an abundance of Halloween candy lying around long after the season of ghouls and goblins has passed? If the answer is yes, don’t be frightened. There are many unique and creative ways to put that leftover Halloween candy to good use. Depending on your taste buds, you may find yourself actually buying some extra Halloween candy to make some of these scrumptious treats!
Candy Bar Brownies
This treat is simple to make, as it only requires two boxes of store-bought brownie mix and leftover candy bars of your choice. Simply prepare one box of the brownie mix as directed on the box, then pour the batter into a 9 x 13 baking pan. Next, unwrap 6 – 8 fun-sized chocolate candy bars and chop the candy into chunks. (You could use a food processor to accomplish this, or simply chop up the candy using a sharp knife.) Now, sprinkle the candy bar crumbs evenly over the top of the brownie batter.
Now it is time to prepare the other box of brownie mix. Simply make the batter as directed, and then pour this batter over top of the candy bar crumbs in the 9 x 13 pan. Make sure that the batter completely covers the top of the candy bar crumbs.
Bake at the temperature directed on the brownie box, but take note that this treat will need to be baked for about twice as long as a single batch of brownies. After baking, allow the brownies to cool completely before cutting.
Tip: If desired, frost these brownies with your favorite canned frosting, and top with other leftover Halloween candy (such as candy corn, or chopped candy bar crumbles) for an extra-sweet treat that everyone will enjoy!
Easy Candy Bar Fudge
Transform that leftover Halloween candy into unbelievable fudge, using just a few simple ingredients. Here’s all you will need:
1 ½ cups of crushed candy bars (such as Butterfinger, Reece’s or Snickers)
2 ½ cups of semisweet chocolate chips
1 can (14 oz) of condensed milk
½ cup of chopped nuts (peanuts, walnuts or pecans)
To make the fudge, simply line an 8-inch square pan with parchment paper, leaving an excess amount for overhang. Sprinkle ½ cup of chopped candy evenly over the paper in the pan. Next, melt the semisweet chocolate chips and the condensed milk over low heat. When melted, add the chopped nuts and the rest of the chopped candy. Stir well then pour into the pan. Allow the mixture to cool, then cut into squares.
