Prevention is better than a cure.

The skincare aisle of drug stores, chemists, and supermarkets groan with a bewildering array of lotions and potions each claiming that they will turn back time, 'fill' wrinkles, 'plump' collagen, and eradicate crows feet. Often these products make exaggerated claims to justify the price tag. It is a billion dollar industry that plays upon our insecurities and vanity.

I believe that the best anti-aging products for the eyes are NOT these miracle' creams but:

1. A high factor sun block.
2. A pair of sunglasses.

Every morning, come wind, rain, or shine I slather my face with a factor 40+ sun cream, and, if going out in bright sunlight always pop my sunglasses on to add further UVA protection and stop myself squinting. Be sure to check the UVA rating of your sun cream as this is more important to preventing skin ageing than the factor rating, it should have a UVA rating of at least 4 stars 'superior' (same goes for your sunglasses).

There are many specialist sun blocks for the face which won't break the bank or make you feel like you've been dunked in a chip pan. My favourite brands are Nivea, Piz Buin, and Boots No7 as I have found these products to be the least oily and sticky. Put your sun cream on first thing, leave it to sink in for 15-20 minutes, then if you wear make-up apply it on top.

Though I am now in my thirties and have never used any anti-aging eye creams, I still often get asked for ID when buying drinks so, ok I'm not ancient, but I must be doing something right!

Give it a try, whatever your age it's never too late for prevention.
