In my dream death is near
I am caught in the depths of fear
I am gasping, running ever faster
Hoping to avoid my own disaster
My legs are lead, death is gaining
I can feel my life slowly draining
Faster and faster I try to run
Nearer and nearer his will be done
Now he is but inches away
In a moment he'll have his way
With a last effort I run anew
For a time he'll not have his due
I have one hope, for goodness sake
End my desperate trial, let me awake
Try as I may, in sleep I stay
i can not keep this nightmare away
As he close for the kill
In fear I use all my will
With a sudden jerk I awake
Is it life or is it my wake?
