The Gravois Park neighborhood is shaped like a train without the smoke stack. Beginning at the northeast corner of the neighborhood at Cherokee Street and South Jefferson Avenue, the boundary runs slightly north and west to South Compton Avenue. Traveling south on South Compton Avenue, it then travels west on Potomac Street. Once the boundary reaches Highway 30/Gravois Avenue it follows Gravois Avenue to South Grand Boulevard. That is the northern border. The western border is South Grand Boulevard, and the southern boundary is Chippewa Street. South Jefferson Avenue makes up the boundary on the east end of the neighborhood. For more detailed location information, click

To the north are the parks of Compton Hill Reservoir, Freemont, Benton, and Tower Grove. Interstate 44, the Shaw Neighborhood Dog Park and the Missouri Botanical Garden are all located in this area. Benton, Cherokee and Lyon parks are located to the east, as well as Interstate 55 and the Missouri river. To the south is St. Alexian Hospital-Broadway Campus, Marquette Park, Laclede Park and Mt. Pleasant Park. Finally, to the east, residents will find Amberg Park, Gravois Plaza, Christy Park and the Southtown Centre.

Income levels per year range from $15,000 to $37,000. It is a somewhat small neighborhood at just over ½ a square mile, yet boasts over 5,900 residents. This creates a very high density living situation. Housing values range from almost nothing to over $200,000. But the most median number for housing values is about $75,000. Most residents are minors. The second largest group are adults, with a sharp decline for middle-aged people. The elderly are the smallest group in the Gravois Park neighborhood. Even with over half of all residents being of African-American influence, there are also Asians, Caucasians, Hispanics, and at least three other ethnic groups living here, too. Income levels are about $20,000 below the median income of $45,229 for the entire state of Missouri. For more detailed demographic information, click here.
