Northern California is full of many wonders. The majestic Redwood trees are amazing. There are many different drives to take in Northern California. Crescent City to Laytonville and Laytonville to Fort Bragg are two very beautiful and interesting drives in Northern California.
Crescent City to Laytonville is 196 miles and takes 3 hours and 40 minutes total driving time. That is if you drive without stopping, which is not recommended. There are a lot of sights to see on this drive. You will travel through the Redwood National Park where there are some of the largest and most beautiful trees in the world. The vegetation is also amazing with clover plants as big around as a small Childs hand. Nothing in the Redwood forest is small. The whole park is a sight to behold. Nestled in the Yosemite Valley lives the
Drive Through Tree, which is located in Mariposa Grove. This huge tree is 90 feet in circumference and 227 feet tall, large enough for a car to drive through. You can get your picture taken driving through the tree. There are also many great Sequoya trees to see that have been around for centuries, six hundred of them to be exact. There are many places along the way between Crescent City and Laytonville to have a picnic and just take a hike. A full day can spent on this stretch of California's Highway 101.
Another fun stop along the way between Crescent City and Laytonville is Confusion Hill which is in Leggett, California. Confusion Hill has been around since 1949 and offers many fun attractions. There's a 30 minute hike through the Redwoods, Gravity House where you will defy the laws of gravity, Redwood Shoe House, Totem Pole and Twin Towers Memorial where visitors can visit a natural memorial to the towers.
Another excellent and shorter drive is from Laytonville to Fort Bragg, California. This drive is 58 miles and takes an hour and 40 minutes on Highway 101 and scenic Highway 1. It is a trip through the beautiful redwoods to the gorgeous Northern California shore. Fort Bragg is a small coastal town where you can enjoy the beach and eat at a seafood restaurant or two.
Northern California is a beautiful place to see. There are a lot of different drives a person can take. A drive from Laytonville to Crescent city or Laytonville to Fort Bragg will provide a day of fun and educational entertainment.
