Video game reviews: Mall World on Facebook

by Kayla Weller

Created on: November 20, 2011

Mall World is a fun simulation game on Facebook where you get to run your own clothing shop. One of the first screens you'll see is your shop. When you first start playing, it'll be pretty empty. But, by playing regularly and buying items from the furniture store, you can design the clothing store of your dreams.

To do this, you'll need mall dollars or mall credits. To get more mall dollars, you'll need to buy items from the catalog and sell them in your store. Mall credits can occasionally be won in the mini-games. And, of course, you can buy either of these with Facebook credits.

To buy items, go to the catalog and select an outfit. You can either buy the whole outfit or single items. It'll take awhile for the items to be delivered to your inventory. If you buy one item, it'll only take one minute. Buy 20 copies of that outfit or item and it'll take 18 hours for the trucks to get there.

Before you can display your outfits in your store, you'll need to buy shelves and/or racks from the furniture store. Accessories like necklaces, shoes, or bags go on the shelves while actual clothing items are displayed on the racks.

Once you have outfits and places to display them, move your clothing items to the racks or shelves. As time moves on, shoppers will visit your store and buy up your items, giving you a small profit. When an item sells out, you'll need to order another item from the catalog and start the whole process over again.

One side goal of the game is to buy items for your closet that you can use to dress up your avatar. The clothing items that you sell in your shop won't be available in your closet. Instead, you'll have to buy them when you visit either your friends' shops or the mall.

If you want to spend more time in the game, there are five mini-games. In "Fashion Show", you dress up your avatar with the items in your closet and compete with seven other players. More Mall World players will then watch your fashion show and vote on whose outfit is the best. The higher you rank, the better the prize you get. But, even if you come in last, you'll get a small prize of mall dollars.

In "The Dressing Room Game", you have 30 seconds to put together an outfit for a customer. On the right side of the screen, you'll see three categories of items. For example, necklaces, shoes, and bags. Under each of these are nine items. When you click on each of these, a red bar at the left of the screen will go up depending on how much the customer likes the item. To get a
