I feel that it is good that Penn State has always tried to run good program and do good for those coming into the college. We must take a look at our world as it is today and remember that there is no stone unturned any more. As hard as we try to have a spotless record, we must keep our eye on each other in order to keep it that way. Penn State has now joined the crow that they were trying to stay away from and can and I believe will in time coming bring their name back to respect. The public must understand that just because a few bad apples fell from the tree don't mean the whole tree is bad. Helping these young men and those involved is what we should be doing and not continuing the pain that has been put on this school. We can sit and blame this one or that one but we all are to blame in some sort of a way.
As time has gone on we have taken our eyes off our children, by giving them too much of what they want and not enough of what they need. It is not the latest game or the coolest clothes that they need, it is our attention and care. We need to know who we are raising and the only way to do that is not let our life come first, spend more time with them talking and not watching the television. Who are their friends? Most parents say they know who their child is hanging out with but that is not so, you know who they want you to know. How many times have their friends been able to come to your home and have movie night or a cookout.
Unless we get back involved in our children's lives we will continue to have the same kind of head hanging low that Penn State is having. I keep hearing about what this one or that one should have done, what about as adults remembering that these are trusting people that are depending on us to make the work better for them and not take advantage of their trust by putting them in sexual roles and then saying don't smoke or drink. We can't do one thing and say another with children, we have to stand up and together as adults and let children know where the line is and how to not cross it, but first we as adults need to not cross the line.
