Why do we ever have to say "in other words?"
why can't we get it right the first time around?
Are we trying to sound important?
Say what you mean don't try to astound
If one thinks that "other words" will say it better
Use the "other words" and don't try to amaze
Say it plain the first time you say something
Don't speak in riddles, I'm in a daze
Keep it simple stupid, I know someone once said
Don't put on airs and try to astonish us
Just get it said and say it with feeling
Just give us your heart, no muss, no fuss
In other words, what I am saying is, say it
Say what you came here to say and tell me straight
In other words don't beat around the bush
Just give it to me, give me my fate

Poetry: In other words
In other words, I’m like a spinning clock,
With no end in sight, no way to stop.
A whirl wind of thought, I can not
When I say, “Fine!”
That means let it go.
We are done talking about it,
Don’t you get it, don't you know?
"The stars are in your eyes"
In other words “I like you.”
"Your skin is warm"
In other words “I need you.”
I wish that you had said the things you meant,
Instead of choosing other words to hide,
Dishonest words which hid their real
by Hanna Joseff
Velvet gloves, taupe sky
Bind with words, shoe laces untie
Reminiscent mower feel
Dilapidated empathy
Sometimes at a loss
