The word solitude usually evokes a negative connotation when said. Solitary confinement, being alone without the comforts of others, and a lonely existence of some is envisioned. I love when my husband, children, and I can be together, and are able to enjoy each others' company. I look forward to that quality time as we encounter life situations with comfort, joy, and each other.
My family consists of the people who I love, and bring out the best in me, as I journey along life's busy road. I have held family, and friends near to my heart, for as long as I can remember, and I know they will always be my anchor, and strength. That being said my reflection will continue with the alone times I have also had on this remarkable journey of enlightenment, development, and growth.
I was an only child. I say was because I am no longer a child, but, I do not have siblings which classifies me as "an only." I spent a lot of time alone growing up, even though I had many friends throughout my life.. The times when my playmates, were busy I amused myself with solitaire games, television, and my own thoughts. The last one is a little tricky though, because too much thinking is not always a good thing, but learning how to use it to your advantage is worth all the effort.
I learned to enjoy my own company, and as I matured I got a true sense of who I really am. My likes, and dislikes were understood, as I learned to be my own person, and not influenced by the thinking of others. This is because I spent enough time knowing what I truly want, and what brings me happiness, and comfort.
I took long walks alone since I was a young teen, and utilized that time to work things out in my heart, and mind. I draw my own conclusions from my own knowledge, and experiences that I have encountered on my journey. It is important for happiness to reach a peaceful state of existence in life. I ponder on the past, and try to correct the present when needed. The alone time gives me the opportunity to meditate, learn, absorb my surroundings, and make me a better person. I do enjoy my own company, and will do some things by myself without the constant need of
