If God created everything, who created God

“God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands; Neither is worshipped with men's hands, as though he needed any thing, seeing he giveth to all life, and breath, and all things.” (Acts 17:24,25)

The finite mind of human beings cannot perceive God as He truly is. Many times man thinks of God as if he were just another person. Yet “God is God of gods, and Lord of lords, a great God, a mighty, and a terrible, which regardeth not persons, nor taketh reward.” (Deuteronomy 10:17) God is not worshipped with men’s hands. That is, God is not dependent on man to wait on Him. God does not need anything. It is God that gives to all life, and breath, and all things.

I Timothy 6:16 explains that only God has immortality and dwells in the light which no man can approach. According to Psalm 90:2, God is from everlasting to everlasting. He was there before the earth was created and the world was formed and the mountains were brought forth. In Isaiah 44:6, God explains, “I am the first, and I am the last; and beside me there is no God.” Also, in Revelation 1:8, God says, “I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the ending, saith the Lord, which is, and which was, and which is to come, the Almighty.”

Hebrews 13:8 declares Jesus, who is God the Son, to be the same yesterday and today and for ever. Also, in Hebrews 7:3, the priest Melchisedec is compared to the Son of God, who is “Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life.” No one created God. God is eternal. He is from everlasting to everlasting. God had neither beginning of days, nor will He have end of life.

The human mind is finite and can only perceive God in time. But God dwells outside the bounds of time, having created time itself. He is not bound by days or years or times or seasons. In Daniel 2:21, the Scripture shows that God has the power to change times and seasons. All that has been created will change, but God will never change, for He will always be the same and His years shall not fail. (See Psalm 102:24-27 and Hebrews 1:10-12)

If God were finite, and man could understand God, He would not be God because He would be no greater than man. But God is greater than all and is all powerful. He knew no beginning and will never know an end. Oh, that man would flee to God for salvation and preservation, for it is the eternal God who is man’s refuge, and it is the arms of God which hold man up and preserve him! (See Deuteronomy 33:27) Beside Him, there is no God.
