Camping in a tent in cold weather is an entirely different experience than the one that is had when people camp during the warmth of summertime. There are many great aspects of this, including the facts that you aren’t usually as crowded and that you can see different views of the world around you. You may also be camping as a sportsman, during a particular hunting or fishing season which is during the colder weather. Whatever the reason you are camping in cold weather, you should do all that you can to ensure that you stay safe and comfortable, including using the following suggestions.

Tent Heaters

Sporting goods stores sell a variety of different types of tent heaters which are probably the most efficient and effective way to keep warm when you are tent camping in the cold weather. Be sure to read all of the cautions, warnings, and instructions on the product that you select, so that you are not only warm, but also safe.

Heat Rocks

Your feet are very important to the way that the rest of your body feels, including temperature comfort. Even if you don’t have a bunch of gadgets for cold weather tent camping, you can still keep your feet warm and cozy at night by using hot rocks. Simply gather several large rocks and place them in your fire for several minutes before you are ready to turn in for the night. When you are ready to sleep, roll the rocks out of the fire using sticks or pokers of some sort and wrap them in old towels or other cloths. Place them in the bottom of your sleeping bag and you will have warm feet and some heat radiating throughout the bag.

Heat Patches

Disposable heat patches of all shapes and sizes can be purchased which will help to keep your body warm for periods of time while you are out enjoying the beauty of the cold weather seasons. Pack these in bulk quantities and be sure to replace them between cold weather camping trips. You might be surprised by how handy they are to have, especially the foot and hand warmers.

Wear Thermal Clothing

Thermal clothing of heavy weight is created to effectively keep the heat that your body produces inside where it belongs. It also creates an additional barrier against the cold air around you. When cold weather tent camping, it’s important to wear the thermal layer underneath your other clothes to have a foundation of warmth that the other items you are wearing can build upon.

Wear a Hat

As anyone who has had a baby knows, the head is where the most body heat is lost. That’s
