Seven life skills that save money

When we think of life skills that save money we should consider  basic skills that are already learned or need to be learned to survive in this expensive modern society.

Life skill #1 Communication

Our modern society is complex more technological and fast paced, communication skills are important to find work, find friendship, companionship and to network with potential employers.  In the US, our society is a melting pot of different cultures and languages, having multiple language skills helps the person find work easier, but knowing English is essential if the person wants to be a success in America.



Life Skill #2  Cooking

During tough economic times especially if the person can't afford to eat out often, cooking skills become essential.  Creating and cooking recipes at home can help save money by allowing the family to eat at home or to bring left overs to work.  Cooking skills helps the person save money by not purchasing one meal at a time when eating out, rather designing meals that can feed greater quantity.

Life Skill #3  Financial skills

If the person is having trouble managing their finances such as balancing a check book then their finances will affect their ability to pay creditors potentially affecting their credit rating in the future. If the person has bad credit then it will affect their ability to get a job, buy a home and apply for any future credit.   The person would have to spend all of their income because of lack of credit therefore affecting their savings.  Financial and budgeting skills are important  especially in a credit based society.

Life Skill #4 Technology skills

The global society is becoming more technological as more high tech companies create new computers, smart phones, tablets and iPads.  Basic technology skills are needed to function with everyday computers and technologies that include using ATMs, online banking, and emailing, just to name a few.

Life Skill#5 Social Media

Social media is becoming a growing trend for connecting families that live great distances away.  People should learn how to navigate and what to place online on these pages because potential employers  are finding information on applicants and using it as a tool to screen employees both new hires and current workers.  Law enforcement agencies are searching social media to get information on potential suspects and to find criminals through gps which many of these
