Remodel your kitchen for under 500

Kitchens and bathrooms are the most important rooms in the home that should be updated before a sale of a home. Home sale prices being low in current   buyer's market the objective for the homeowner remodeling should be to fix and create the best kitchen for the remodel budget of 500.

Where to start

The remodel  budget of 500 can be accomplished if the homeowner is willing and able to do the labor for kitchen remodel.  The homeowner has to assess their skills for the remodel, what can they do and what they can't do.   Start the remodel with items in the kitchen that need repair.  If you need a new counter top consider purchasing 12 x 12 granite tile or 6 x 6 ceramic tile.  Purchase the grout the same color as the tile color to create seamless look.  Tile depending upon the size of the counter top can run under 300.00. 

Paint

Paint is the best and cheapest way to change anything in the kitchen, it can be applied on the walls, the cabinets, vintage tile, even appliances.   There are different types of paints for the tiles and for the appliances.  There are even paint kits for counter tops that sell for around 260.00 in Home depot.   There are so many paint products on the market that can allow for any surface to be painted.

Hardware

If the cabinets have no knobs or old vintage knobs consider purchasing modern chrome steel handles.  It is an instant upgrade, known as the jewelry on the cabinets. If the homeowner wants a Tucson style kitchen, than bronze or copper colored knobs are great.  Knobs and handles come in many different styles and colors depending upon what the homeowner wants to purchase.

Updating cabinets

If you have a lot of cabinets changing cabinet doors can be expensive, so consider reusing the current doors by adding trim molding around the door.  If the homeowner has the skills to cut out wood cabinet door to add glass or plexiglass to the door, it is a great way to instantly add more style to the kitchen.
Adding pull out drawers to the bottom cabinets for pots and pans are inexpensive ways to add modern functionality to old kitchen cabinets.  There are even lazy suzans made for corner cabinets.  On eBay pull out shelves can be found at 26.00 or less with hardware included and lazy suzans at 36.00.  If you update two or three base cabinets its still under 200.00.
