Looking for things to do in Chicago is not necessarily difficult; after all, it is a big city, and a trek downtown will likely result in practically tripping over all the attractions and events probably going on underfoot. If it is a more focused-ahead approach you seek, though, then perhaps the following travel tips will come in handy on your next visit to Chitown.
Millennium Park
This is a relatively recent attraction, when placed within the span of the extensive history of top things to do in Chicago. Featuring the now-world-famous “Bean” enormous stunning metal sculpture, a walkthrough of modern art exhibits, a family-friendly park for picnics, and a fantastic outdoor performance venue, Millennium Park is always an enjoyable stop that even provides its visitors with a gorgeous view of the skyline.
Sports Game
Chicago is definitely a sports town, as evidenced by the storied history of such professional teams as the Bears, Cubs, White Sox, Bulls, and Blackhawks. Depending on the time of year, sports fan should definitely take the opportunity to see some high-quality play in the areas of football, baseball, basketball, ice hockey, or even soccer with the Chicago Fire.
Walk The Streets
Seriously: When downtown, just walk around. The storefront attractions and pedestrian-friendly destinations make for a wonderful experience, especially at such stops as Navy Pier or the Shedd Aquarium, both making their appearances right up along Lake Shore Drive. If shopping is more your speed, you have to hit the Magnificent Mile along Michigan Avenue and State Street to enjoy both classic and contemporary choices in modern-chic shopping style choices.
See A Show
Chicago has some of the greatest performance troupes in the world, having boasted such hot off-Broadway commodities as Wicked, while also posing venues for ballet and orchestral concerts. If you enjoy theater, you have several options, including comedy at the famed Second City, where many cast members of Saturday Night Live got their start. Even if your tastes run fine enough to enjoy an opera every once in a while, the Windy City has you covered when you check out the Lyric.
Perhaps, obviously, just performing a Google search on the top things to do in Chicago or their best tourist attractions will garner some valuable information for your next visit; then again, you may have landed here as the result of such a search. Either way, the above choices should provide a solid start for your planning.
