As intriguing and exotic as it may sound, there are also actual benefits to bathing in milk and honey, so maybe the legend about Cleopatra's famous baths that lead to her stunning beauty is true. Let's investigate, shall we?

In eastern cultures, establishments that offers milk and honey baths has been around for quite a while back in history. But even here on the western side can you find the same luxurious spa treatments with milk and honey.

The benefits of Honey

The medicinal and healing properties of honey have earned it a reputation as one the purest and most natural remedies for over 5,000 years. It is known to boost the body's supply of antioxidants and is widely used as a complementary remedy for the relief of the symptoms of colds, coughs, sore throats and the flu.

Less known is that honey is a mild antiseptic, helping to keep minor cuts and burns free from infection.

Honey has been and still is being used as a popular facial mask. The honey soothes and moisturizes the skin. Simultaneously it is ex-foliating the skin which helps supporting the skin in drawing out excess oils.



The benefits of Milk

The lactic acid in milk is an alpha hydroxy acid, a natural material that ex-foliate your skin. Milk can cleanse the skin down to its deepest layers which will leave you fresh and rejuvenated.



* ~ Cleopatra's Milk Bath Formula ~

Add 4 cups of fresh milk, buttermilk (can be exchanged for dry milk formula, but not recommended) to the bathwater as the tub is filling. Add 4-6 table spoons of honey to the bathwater and stir thorough.
Soak it the tub for as long as it feels pleasant. Carefully massage your skin with a washcloth or loofa to help the ex-foliation process. Rinse your body thoroughly after soaking and make sure you clean the tub.
