With all the baby products available in stores and on-line, it can be quite a challenge for parents to decipher the essential baby products from the non-essential ones. While one infant’s needs my differ from the next, the key to determining what products are essential for your baby boils down to your infant’s individual basic needs.
Here is a list of essential items for every newborn:
Formula - all infants need milk to sustain them. While studies suggest that breastfeeding is the better option for both mother and baby, some moms chose to formula feed their infants instead. Earth’s Best Organic® infant formula is a great option since every ingredient is tested for pesticides and other potentially harmful residues. In addition, this organic baby formula meets with the strict standards for organic certification.
Bottles - if you choose to bottle feed your infant; keep their safety in mind by opting for BPA free bottles. Reports have suggested that the chemical BPA, which is short for biphenyl A, is present in many plastics - including baby bottles. This chemical can have harmful short and long-term effects so it is advisable to purchase BPA free bottles such as Born Free®, Green to Grow® and Dr. Brown’s®.
Diapers/wipes - on an average, a newborn uses between 6 to 8 diapers everyday. That is about 2,200 to 2,900 diapers a year! It is no wonder that diapers top the list of the essential items every newborn needs. Whether mom and dad prefer cloth to disposable, diapers are definitely a necessity. Whatever you do, do not forget the wipes! To prevent and cut down on skin sensitivities, opt for organic diapers and wipes. Seventh Generation® makes it easy for parents to choose organic since their company offers both products.
Boudreaux’s All Natural Butt Paste® - this diaper ointment treats and protects the delicate skin of infants and goes on and wipes off easily. Most importantly, it is all natural.
Miracle Blanket®/Swaddling blankets - after spending about 40 weeks incubating in the womb of its mother, a newborn has become accustomed to the comfort, warmth and protection such an environment provides. Swaddling blankets mimic a mother’s womb by keeping the infant warm and cozy and provides him or her with a sense of safety. If parents are looking for an improved version of the basic swaddling blanket, then the Miracle Blanket® is the next best thing since sliced bread. This blanket combines the classic
