'The Political Game'
Agreements sought after in backroom meetings
sweat and effort drains the weary souls
bench players holler, shout and fuss
everyone is determined,
stuck in rigid beliefs
The game proceeds to hard locked stalemate
team A delivers a vicious punch
team B is stubborn and will not budge
positions defended no matter the cost
frozen by dreadful fear of job loss
cheerleaders may vote them out
Oh, dear congress person, senators and president
be brave, be brave and speak out of the pack
think out of the worn out political box
go to the benches where the moderates sit
some team A and some team B
Be brave, be brave
inner rewards are great
peace with self
how much is that worth?
Some team A, some team B
don’t you see?
