Evergreen Highlands is a neighborhood in Vancouver, Washington. It is located between Lewis and Clark highway and MacArthur Boulevard. Located just three and a half miles from downtown Vancouver, this is mainly a residential neighborhood of mid-century ranch style homes. It is located between MacArthur Boulevard and Lewis and Clark Highway. The average home price in this area is around $375,000 and most of the homes are lived in by their owners.
When it comes to walking, this is not the highest rated walking area in the city due to the lack of sidewalks on many of the streets, while this gives the area a rural feel it also makes a car pretty much of a necessity. The neighborhood is built on a bluff overlooking the nearby Columbia River and many homes have great views.
General Anderson Park is located within the boundaries of the neighborhood. It is a smallish neighborhood park of less than two acres. Like many parks it was built for this neighborhood after World War II. It includes paved paths, playground equipment, trees and green space and benches.
Dubois Park is nearby but outside the neighborhood. It is twice the size of General Anderson Park and includes one of the trail heads to the Blanford Canyon Nature Trail.
Just to the north of MacArthur Boulevard are George C. Marshall Elementary School and McLoughlin Middle School. Marshall Elementary has earned a GreatSchools 4/10 performance rating for results on standardized state test for the 2010/11 school year. It is however very popular with students and parents earning a 4/5 community rating.
For over a half century, St. Joseph Catholic Church and School have been active in this neighborhood with over 2000 parishioners and 100 ministries. The school offers classes to grades Pre K though 8.
Clark College is a two year school that provides the classes needed to receive an AS degree but also helps students to transfer to a four year program. Additionally there are classes for continuing education, enrichment and certificate programs.
Avid golfers who are considering living in this neighborhood will be happy to know that within a very short drive is the Vanco Golf and Driving Range. Open seven days a week, it is the only golf facility within the city limits.
There are not a lot of restaurants in the area but the Shorewood Market and Café is a popular spot to stop for food. It offers burgers, sandwiches, salads and baked goods.
If you are looking for an established neighborhood with a convenient location then Evergreen Heights is one to consider in Vancouver, Washington.
