The June 2009 death of Michael Jackson shocked the world. He was only 50 years of age. After a thorough investigation of the facts by the Los Angeles County Coroner's office, it was proven that the only person with Michael Jackson at the time of his death was Dr. Conrad Murray. Dr. Murray admitted he had given Michael many prescription drugs that day, ending with an injection of propofol. Propofol is a strong drug which should only be given by a anesthesiologist in a hospital setting with round the clock breathing monitoring.
The coroner ruled that a combination of prescription drugs killed Michael Jackson. The two main drugs were propofol and lorazepam.
A time-line was made up by the Los Angeles Coroner of when and what was administered to Michael Jackson by Dr. Murray on the day he died:
*Around 1:30 am Dr. Murray administered 10 mg of Valium
*About 2:00 am Dr. Murray injected Michael with 2 mg of an anti-anxiety drug Ativan
*Approximately 3:00 am Murray then gave Michael 2 mg of a sedative called Versed.
*Around 5:00 am Dr. Murray administered 2 more mg of Ativan
*At about 7:30 am Dr. Murray administered 2 more mg of Versed supposedly while monitoring him with a device that measured the oxygen saturation level of his blood
*Approximately at 10:40 am after multiple requests made by Jackson, Dr. Murray administered 25 mg propofol
*The delayed call to 911 contributed to the death of Michael Jackson. Someone who knew how to correctly adminster CPR could possibly have helped resuscitate him. (http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-15380271)
Propofol, also known as Diprivan, is usually prescribed to treat anxiety, help a patient sleep and can lead to the patient becoming unconscious. These effects usually last only a few hours. Propofol should be given by injection by a trained, licensed anesthesia professional and only in a hospital setting. While the patient is under the effects of the propofol, his/her vital signs must be monitored. None of this was done for Michael Jackson. Dr. Murray claims he was not correctly informed of all the medications Michael Jackson was taking. Had he ventured to research Michael's dependency and addition to propofol, the outcome may have been totally different.
Dr. Conrad Murray is not the only one guilty of giving Jackson these drugs. There were also other doctors who prescribed these lethal drugs. There were too many doctors who did not refused to administer these drugs to Michael Jackson. Each and every doctor including Dr. Murray that prescribed these prescription drugs and administered them to Michael are guilty of the death of Michael Jackson. Fame and money talk. In conclusion, Dr. Conrad Murray was responsible for the care of Michael Jackson. Somewhere he failed to keep Michael safe in his care. Remember the doctor' oath: "First, do no harm".
