A wedding anniversary is a celebration of the love that two people have for one another. It reminds them of the day they exchanged vows and how they shared that happy moment with their family and friends. A wedding anniversary is a day to realize that you and your spouse have made it through the good times and the bad times. 

A marriage takes work to keep it going. After being married for a number of years you know that there are problems that arise but you solved them together. This is a great accomplishment and it should be celebrated. Celebrating your anniversary can strengthen your marriage because you look back at the past year or years you have been married and you see the love that you still have for one another.

An anniversary is like a birthday. We celebrate life. When we get married, our lives are joined together as one. There is a bond between you and your spouse, this is a blessing. You are committed to one another forever. Your anniversary is a celebration of that trust, compassion, love and understanding that you have for each other.

Many people don't realize that an anniversary is beating the odds. Statistics show that two out of five marriages end in divorce within the first few years. So the longer you have been married, the more reason to celebrate.

Now, I know that all marriages are not a bed of roses, but if you and your spouse are trying than that is a reason to celebrate your anniversary. I believe that a marriage is a partnership that requires both partners to communicate with each other. This includes telling each other how you feel about certain things whether bad or good.

Marriages also require honesty so when the worst thing imaginable happens you need to tell your spouse. Believe me there are many things that can break up a marriage and if you have faced some of these problems and overcame them than you really need to celebrate your anniversary. The two of you really belong together and you know that your love is strong. Be proud of yourselves.

If you have children that is even more reason to celebrate your marriage. Your marriage has succeeded and you have created a family. This is the power of love. No matter what comes along you know that the love you have for one another will withstand anything. This is why wedding anniversaries are so important. It is not just another day.
