Poetry: Thanks, but no thanks

by Captain Geneve Rogan-Hawk

Created on: November 04, 2011

After all this time
You come to me and tell me
That I was always your first choice
That I was always the one you loved
And you expect me to swallow your lie
And fall to your feet
As if you are God's gift to women
And I would be lucky to be on your arm

But you must have heard
Perhaps not

I have my own life now and
YOU would be lucky to have ME

However, you're not THAT lucky

You passing me up
Was the best thing to happen to me
So thanks, but no thanks
