The best way to make money on Helium is to increase traffic to your articles. With Helium’s new system, you can check the page views to your page, which allows you to see which categories pay the most. Not every channel is the same. There are several different tools that you can use to increase traffic to both your Helium articles and your About me page. Posting and linking your URLs to sites like StumbleUpon, Digg, Reddit, Twitter, Facebook, and various blogs will help increase traffic to your work. Read popular blogs and comment often. You can link an article if it pertains to the original blog post. However, be careful of spamming. Don’t forget to check your PageRanks too.

Contests
Contests are a unique and popular way to make money on Helium. Each Wednesday new contests are posted and they run for two weeks. Cash prizes go to the top three contributors in the category and are ranked through the rating system. Categories vary widely and the competition is fun and exciting.

Assignment System
This system replaced the old Marketplace and it a more competitive way to earn incentive payments on Helium. Incentive payments used to be first come, first serve and payment was based on writing stars, but now the best article is selected by the editors. This improves the quality of writing on Helium.

Rating
It is only $3 per month, but it is a bonus and having 5 rating stars looks good on your About Me page. Also, it is a great way to meet other writers, find inspiration and see great titles that you should be contributing to. The more articles you write, the faster you will accumulate stars and more potential you have to make more money. Additionally, without rating stars, you don’t get paid at all.

LeapFrog
It is possible to write 1000 articles and have absolutely no stars. To prevent this, it is important to LeapFrog as often as possible. The higher ranked your articles are, the more money they will earn. Articles within the top 5 of their title earn the most.
