After so much press from the rich and famous concerning global warming and waste, we would suspect that a few good resolutions would come forth. After agreeing with them that we need to do something I was disappointed at their false solutions or lack there of.
These political figures and movie stars preach to the world that America needs to change and that everyone should drive fuel efficient cars and renewable energy sources and we need to change now, but how? The poor and most of the middle class cannot afford solar panels, cannot afford $10,000 more for a hybrid car, what will they ask us to do next. To go even farther they drive fancy gas guzzlers and fly in private jets, thereby voiding their words.
So, I have decided to post some simple solutions. Most of them are already in practice but are not properly used to their fullest extent and some are new:
1. Paper, Plastic & Cardboard Recycling: most people have a recycling bin, but not many people throw in all their magazines, newspapers, and paper goods.
2. Computer & Monitor Recycling: big computer companies will take your computers from you for free. This is because they will recycle the computers by smelting them down and reusing their copper, gold, and other raw goods since it is cheap to do so. The government should offer a subsidy to these companies in which they offer the community $10-$25 per computer in lieu of free. Most people do not want to deal with the hassle of sending back their junk so they toss it in the garbage.
3. Magnetic & Electric Train System: They should have express routes through America using such mass transit systems. No one likes to take a train too far because they are very time consuming. This would save on automobiles, gas, planes, and other forms of transportation.
4. Help Regulate other countries. This is the final point I will make in this article. These people declare it is our duty and our problem. Yet, we have some of the cleanest cities and toughest regulations in the world. Many countries dump their waste in streams, in a jungle no matter how toxic it might be. They have no VOC regulations and cause more damage to the world than all of America. America can be the poster child in setting the example, but we cannot be the change, the rest of the world will need to follow suite in order to truly make a difference.
I will routinely add to this topic as more simple ideas are discovered.
