There are things that you must watch out for when reading and rating a Helium article. However, this goes for whatever article you read -whether it is on-line, or in print. One must be aware of spelling. Incorrect spelling of words can ruin what could otherwise have been a good article.
Articles written as one full text of writing - without any paragraph breaks - will see that article being rated down. Articles that do not get.
to the point, that stray off-topic, and that ramble, will also be rated down. Writers must stick to the subject matter at all costs. Once a writer begins to wander off-subject then he/she loses their readers - and they will rate your article down. Articles must be off a reasonable length, in order for the reader to be able to finish it. A good writer should never lose a reader's interest - and a good writer should also be informative, understandable and, as explained above, to the point.
So write your articles to the correct word length if you want them to succeed. Articles that are written with ‘authority’ will let the reader know that the writer is knowledgeable - or has researched the subject matter well. A writer would have done this to such a degree, that he or she can write about the subject with ease.
The reader, when clicking onto your article, expects to be informed on the subject matter at hand. They do not wish to be taken all around the world before the article gets to its subject. Sharp, crisp, understandable articles - which are written well, and with authority - will see those article rise to the top.
Articles without any punctuation marks - or punctuation marks in the wrong places - smacks of amateur work. This will see your article rated down. This is because the writer is simply too ‘lazy’ to bother with such things and in the reader's mind, he or she may wonder why they should then give good marks? Articles with more than one exclamation mark to stress on a point at the end of the sentence, smacks of an amateur writer.
Any article with a lack of punctuation, or punctuation in the wrong places, will always be rated down. Punctuation and grammar - when done well - can enhance your article, and give it that ‘professional’ look' and 'feel' to it. Treat your readers with the respect they deserve. Readers are not stupid, so do not treat them as such.
